What is BQB Certification?

 

In simple terms, BQB (Bluetooth Qualification Body) Certification is the official "seal of approval" from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) that guarantees a product properly and correctly implements Bluetooth technology.

Think of it like this:

The Bluetooth SIG is the governing body (like a government).

The Bluetooth technology is the set of laws and a language (like English).

BQB Certification is the official test and license that proves your product can "speak the Bluetooth language" fluently and correctly, ensuring it can communicate with any other licensed Bluetooth device.

There are two main parts to the BQB process, which often causes confusion:

Listing a Component (e.g., a Bluetooth Module): A module manufacturer (like USI, Murata, or Nordic) gets their module design certified. This creates a "Qualified Design" in the SIG's database.

Listing an End Product (Your Finished Product): You, as the end-product manufacturer, declare that your product uses a pre-certified module and that you haven't messed up its implementation. This is much simpler and cheaper than certifying from scratch.
